3 Tips to Stop Anxiety Attacks
Panic and anxiety attacks affect millions of people's lives. You or a loved one could be one of the affected. I once was. But I learned some wonderful techniques that have allowed me to live a life free from anxiety. I want to tell you about some of these methods that have helped me stop anxiety attacks once and for all.
I used to get nervous and anxious in many situations, and I didn’t know why. It didn’t make sense that I would have an anxiety attack at the video store. What is there in a video store to make someone anxious? I sure didn’t know. This happened somewhat frequently in all kinds of places, including at home!
Breathing Techniques
My doctor taught me some techniques to stop anxiety attacks. One is controlling your breath. It sounds almost silly, but focusing on your breath and taking slow, deep breaths can help calm your nerves. Say “relax” in your mind as you inhale, and exhale completely.
But wait, something isn’t right here. The more you focus on your breath, the more nervous and self-conscious you get! I had this problem too. Don’t worry, it can be overcome. Let’s try another technique.
Muscle Relaxation
Muscle relaxation can be a great way to stop anxiety attacks. Tense both shoulders, hold for 10 seconds, and then relax. Do this a couple more times. You can also do this with the previous method, alternating between muscle relaxation and proper breathing methods.
Still finding it hard to relax? This can be a common problem, especially when you are in public. So what to do?
Take a Step Outside
Consider stepping out of your situation for a moment. Leave the video store (or wherever you are), go outside, and then take a few deep breaths, telling yourself to relax. Tense your shoulders, then release. Sometimes all it takes is removing yourself from the surroundings that are causing your anxiety attacks. A change of environment can cause a positive change in your mental outlook, stopping anxiety attacks in their tracks.
If you are still feeling an anxiety attack coming on, head to your car so you have your own space. Now you have a true opportunity to relax, breath, tense-and-release.
Anxiety attacks always come with a feeling of impending catastrophe. You feel like your mind is about to come right out of your head or your body is just going to stop working right then and there.
If the above situation sounds familiar, realize that you are not alone. It is estimated that about 5% of the population in America suffers from anxiety attacks. That is over 15 million people! Some people experience such awful situations only rarely and in certain situations, like when speaking in front of others. Many other anxiety sufferers have to deal with the possibility of an anxiety attack every day of their lives. I was in the last category. It got to the point where it was incredibly difficult to even leave the house.
The fact of the matter is this: there is help. There is a way to stop anxiety attacks permanently and live a normal life again. Your journey begins here.
Joe Barry's course brought me out of a deep depression that lasted for over 4 years.
Since following this course, my life has changed dramatically. Every day is now a blessing. If you are caught in a cycle of depression or anxiety, Panic Away will heal your wounds and make life worth living again.
